Leave the Brumbies alone and the History that goes with those Beautiful Australian Horses
? ? A silent vigil for all Brumbies who have suffered inhumane and cruel treatment, and will suffer, at the hands of the Andrews Government cruelty and barbaric plan, on a day of birth and regeneration for all horses.
?? Some protesters, wearing red and black. ? ? Please join, in silence, with photos, corflutes or banners to “speak” silently with images, of our opposition to the cruel covert plan, to sniper shoot brumbies with silencers in rough terrain, where helping maimed and wounded mares and foals and stallions is difficult & even prevented.
The plan cannot satisfy the national regulators, model codes of practice, best animal welfare, standard operating procedures and should not proceed. Please write to your MP and ask they intervene on your behalf.
Contractors are to hunt down wounded Brumbies with dogs, to use chain saws, in absence of a Vet, to chop up and hide bodies from the public view.
???Brumby Action Group oppose shooting Brumbies under any circumstances, but this plan is barbaric.
??We are lobbying for the introduction of The Victorian Heritage Brumby Bill for the enactment of Legislation to protect ALL wild living Victorian Brumbies for all future generations
Foaling season has begun. As we know brumby mares can foal down at any time from the 1st August Some have already foaled with others getting close. Yet trapping seems to be ramping up!!! It has just been announced that another truck load of 20 BRUMBY MARES are destined for SA! With 60+ (mixed sex) recently sent to Qld.
There is a high risk of these mares aborting their foals or going into labour due to the stress of trapping & transporting, especially on long hauls to SA.
Brumby mares generally seek sheltered spots in the tree lines to foal down, within their known territory. I hope these mares that are headed for the long 1200 km trip to SA will have suitable foaling habitat, not just an open exposed paddock. They need suitable shelter & security. Fencing also needs to be considered for young foals as they become very inquisitive & do not understand fences. Single strand electric fencing on its own is not suitable.
These mares should NOT be trucked on long trips now! Welfare breach???

A GENERAL OPINION-
My last couple of posts relating to the VBA/ABA media release and the long list of signatories attached to it has created some debate.
First up, any genuine brumby supporters that have been around the brumby saga in NSW and Victoria for any length of time have a reasonable understanding of where the two sponsors of the media release sit with respect to NPWS and Parks Victoria.
As is the norm with mobs like that, (the G Mob), there is nothing like changing the narrative, re-writing the story and adding a touch of bulls..t when caught out. The term of “divider” et al is straight from the Peter Cochrane list of names thrown my way by both Cochrane and his cohorts. Almost all of the signatories appear to be aligned with the self proclaimed leader, Mr Peter Cochran so the diatribe about dividing comes as no surprise.
All the signatories have a democratic right to behave as they did, we have a democratic right to offer opinions on their media release.
No where in either opinion piece was the role of re-homers mentioned yet some of the commentary infers that that that we do not support re-homers.
The nett effect of the media release was to provide NPWS, Griffin and Kean with the ability to now pronounce that there is a media release in the public domain that supports their POM population target of 3,000.
The foul stench of the monaro nationals and their playmates wafts through the air.
Still silence from the recently elected Nationals Member for Monaro, just like her predecessor Barilaro.

A MESSAGE TO ALL CONCERNED

After all the attacks on SMBSMG members in recent times we would like to say.
FIGHTING FOR KOSCI
BRUMBIES TO STAY IN THE PARK
That is what we have been fighting for since formation of this Group.
We will continue to FIGHT for our Brumbies our Heritage & Culture.
We will not be entertaining in anymore nastiness that has been
aimed at us in recent times by those
who seem to have a problem with how this Group manages to raise
money in a hurry, how and what we do with mostly MEMBERS money.
We do not scrutinise other Groups with what they raise money for or be nasty about it.
That is their business!
We expect the same RESPECT from them, with money we raise .
For the people who have the conception that we have a
TRANSPORT FUND we do NOT!!
We raise money for SPECIFIC things when needed and it is voted on by the Committee BEFORE it is announced
As for all the nastiness and Defamation about pulling down traps….
It was NOT premeditated, it was spur of the moment after coming across the terrified foals in traps whilst on a camping trip.
WHO could leave foals overnight in a pen with colts & Stallions in it, we couldn’t.
If Parks & Government gave Brumby Advocates the same amount of time to put our cases across as they do Invasive Species, Reclaim,
Wilderness Society and Greens along with Media, there would not have been such drastic action as videoing needed to draw attention.
Plus the law States any animals under duress in traps, should be set free.
It was not premeditated it was spur of the moment after seeing the foals terrified in traps.
Yes we all know, for years OTHERS making out they are squeaky clean, have done exactly the same over the years. Even videoing it happening, unyet you make judgement.
Also now trying to use it in the blame game
for U. N Agenda being enforced by Governments to destroy our Heritage, History & Culture.
For those that don’t know
The Management Plan introduced in November, 2021 included shooting in traps and euthanasia .
(NOTE Shooting in traps was implemented by a Victorian Advocate doing deals behind closed doors in NSW & Victoria ) this was always going to be implemented once rehomers were to capacity. Now NPWS have assured this by their unprecedented trapping, this their latest release has nothing to do with the trap incident in MARCH!
This is all about them being made accountable and transparent in parliament
SMBSMG will not apologise for trying to make NPWS and GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE and TRANSPARENT !!!
