Anzac Day is upon us, so i wrote a couple of verses.
“We Will Mourn”
Written by Dick Roberts
As the first grey streaks of daylight,
Lighten up the dawn
We will all stand in silence,
Together we will mourn.
Will we mourn for the many,
That never did come home,
And mourn for those that did,
To a place they didn’t know.
Will we mourn for the soldier,
That gave his life for us,
And mourn for his family,
For in his country he did trust.
We will mourn for the mothers,
For there son’s they didn’t bury,
And mourn for thier widows,
Or fiancee’s they couldn’t marry
We will mourn for their children,
The ones that lost their dad,
And mourn for their cousins,
And the friends that they had.
As a country we must remember,
Everything they fought for,
Freedom, life and liberty,
A fair go for one and all
So on ANZAC day remember,
Everything you have,
Is thanks to all those diggers
That sacraficed everything they had.
Don’t take this life for granted,
Nor anything you see,
Without our brave soldiers
None of us are free.
Lest We Forget.
