You sent me a friend
just when I needed one most
.
funny but i didn’t really believe
you’d come through in the end
.
and now that you have i don’t know
.
where to begin
.
i seem to ignore you ‘cept
when i find myself in a pinch
when my tanks runnin’ on empty
and there’s nowhere left to turn
when all whom i trust have
.
left in a rush
.
that’s when You go on
and jump right on in
.
i don’t know why you do it
i’ve never come through for You
the trail of empty promises
and half-baked attempts could
.
fill up a room
.
i’m always too busy rushing
after some other dream
something i think will make me
feel like a king
.
better inside
somehow complete
.
but it never does
and after it’s through
and i’m battered and beat
.
that’s when i turn to You
and You always come through
truer than true
.
right to the end
when You sent me a friend
.
~ poem “Truer Than True” by Michael Traveler, author/poet
WHO’D HAVE IMAGINED that a young girl who grew up in a small rural farming community in Russia would one day become an internationally acclaimed children’s photographer. I personally have been in love with her amazingly magical photos of rural family life for nearly a decade. Through the lens of ELENA SHUMILOVA’S camera, you see life in all its wonder as if through the eyes of a child. See more of Elena’s work on her FB page at https://www.facebook.com/elena.shumilova.39 and see for yourself …
