MY GRANDMOTHER PASSED ON over thirty years ago. I was in my early twenties and off exploring the world and did not learn of her passing until six months after her funeral. It felt as if she was just away and would one day be back. Even after visiting the grave site beside her favorite tree, it still felt like she wasn’t gone. She loved poetry and art and nature and children and music..SHE ENCOURAGED ME TO READ and to pursue my abilities as a writer and artist and photographer. Everything I am today was influenced in one way or another by her. I still feel her presence around me every time I walk in the woods or see a bird sitting on a fence or see leaves dancing in the wind or flakes of snow falling gracefully to the ground. I don’t believe our loved ones are ever really gone. They’re just continuing the journey God set them on.
