THE LAST BRUMBY

All the Angels are heralding out your name
Travelled through the mists of time to be here again
Ten years ago to this very day
I stood on a.mountainside and watched you canter my way
Head held high, eyes so proud
My heart skipped a beat when you called out, loud
The air parted and the trees bowed down
The sun turned away, hidden deep in cloud
I held my breath and watched as your hooves, they flew
Tears stung my eyes from the vision of you
I’d give up my life to keep you safe
An impossible task to drive the evil away
Blood of my blood, my brother the wind
This joy, this rapture to see you again
All those years simply melt away
Deep below the snow line, I will you to stay
But your spirit has flown carried on the wind
Just a ghost in the moonlight, a specter, a jinn
We had our chance but let it slip away
Now crying rivers of tears for that fateful day
Burned into my mind the memory won’t fade
Echoes of the Wild Mountain Horses and the price they paid.

I am interested in writing short stories for my pleasure and my family's but although I have published four family books I will not go down that path again but still want what I write out there so I will see how this goes
