Labor Climate Minister Chris Bowen tells the Arabs at climate talkfest to fill in their oil wells

The only benefit of living through Labor’s Big State Idiocracy is the endless satire dramatised by MPs. This time, the whole world is holding its gut, doubled over in a fit of laughter after Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen started his Cop28 talk with an Acknowledgement of Country – in Dubai.

Does the Minister know that there are no original Indigenous people in Dubai? Those cultures are long since lost to the sands. Some may say it was a little insensitive of the Minister to talk about the infinite wisdom of Indigenous peoples in a host city built by colonising forces.
Mind you, it’s no more ludicrous than preaching Net Zero from one of the world’s largest exporters of oil – a nation that uses proxies to buy up rainforests in the third- world, milking them for carbon credits to greenwash their climate credentials. Bowen probably didn’t mention that before hopping onto his private jet to sip a little champagne.
The one thing we did learn is that Bowen is throwing $100 million (of our money) at the Pacific Islands – half of it for some dubious ‘Green Climate Fund’ to help them manage the transition away from fossil fuels. Those would be the same Pacific nations selling off mining rights of coal, oil, and gas to China, taking bribes, and letting Chinese warships park in the harbour for uh – tourism, or something. As I said… an Idiocracy.
