PLEASE STOP THE SLAUGHTER OF OUR HERITAGE BRUMBIES!!

Look how many Tourists came to see the mighty PALEFACE!

PALEFACE was known World wide and his photograph is as iconic as him!

The Snowy and High Country brumbies are ICONIC and known all over the World, don’t the NSW and Victorian Government KNOW the

WORLD IS WATCHING!!!

ALL brumbies young, Old and Stallions deserve to LIVE!!

They are naturally gentle souls as shown in other photos taken by

Ian and Michelle Brown

Thankyou to Snowy Brumby Photography Group for allowing me to use this magical photo of the iconic

PALEFACE!

Paleface digging through nearly a metre of snow looking for a green pick!! Please dont feel sorry for them, He is in fantastic condition and in no threat of starving. This is their life, their environment and I can assure you that the Brumbies handle it way better then what we think. Yes the elderly can lose weight and not fare as well but isnt that true in any environment, domestic or otherwise. Photo Copyright to Carol Hancock

you can lay this at the Greens door they should be held to account-in a normal world they would -with their absurd policies and their refusal to allow the fire fuel to be burnt prior to fire season they have caused murder and mayhem both with humans, native animals domestic animals and horses and especially with our wonderful Paleface who i have watched for a long time and who I see every day as i open my computer as as he stands there with his mountains behind him- I waited with bated breath that he and his mob would be spared but it was not to be- the bloody greens should be charged with crimes against humanity

THE SPIRIT OF PALEFACE – KOSCIUSKO’S KING .. Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBarkPoet 6.11.2020

No sighting at all not a skerrick of hair

it’s as if they have disappeared into thin air.

No worn tracks festooned with hoofprints or dung

and the hills do not echo with songs they have sung

They have vanished from sight like the dark fleeing night

and we hope that they’re safe but we fear for their flight.

Watchers watch, as do others who oft’ walk the trail

for a glimpse of a stallion with hide scarred and pale

or perhaps his offsider, a big rangy bay.

or the foals who were born before fire got away.

But despite many eyes in the sky, on the ground,

there’s no sighting of Paleface or his mob around.

There were bodies a’plenty found after the fires

with the grim grin of rictus, death always inspired.

And though burnt and disfigured such pitiful sights

impossible to recognize try as folks might.

There were none they could recognize as the lost grey

so there’s still hope perhaps that they did get away.

It’s been over nine months now and hope lingers on

but reality check tells us that we are wrong.

For had he survived – and escaped miles away

he’d return to his mountains where once he held sway.

To the white covered slopes where the snow gums grow strong.

To the grass covered plains where the grasses grow long.

Where the warrigal’s cry echoes all round the hills

and where wedgetails still fly, hunting rabbits and thrills.

Yes he’d find his way home if God willing he could

but he hasn’t, although we’re all wishing he would.

So I bid fond adieu to that proud mountain king

with thanks for the memories that photographs bring.

Someday we may yet see another grey horse

with a tangle of dreadlocks emerge from the North

with a band of bright fillies and foals shaded grey

yet another descendent of Thowra. He may

have the genes of his ancestor – Paleface the King

and the hills will once more welcome the echoing

of a Stallion’s challenge ringing out so strong.

But the memory of Paleface will still linger on.

The Silver Brumby’

Paleface, King of the Mountains.

Many of you will recognise this gorgeous stallion. A popular brumby for many photographers, he came to symbolise everything that is grand and majestic about the brumbies. Sadly he was lost in the fires.

I’ve been wanting to do a drawing of him for a while, but it’s taken me a while to do one that I felt did him justice. By drawing him closeup and staring at the viewer, I’m hoping that he will really connect with those looking at him, challenging those who think of brumbies as pests or mere feral animals.

A quote is circulating facebook at the moment ” Sit with ANIMALS quietly And they will show you their hearts. Sit with them KINDLY and they will help you locate yours! “

This rings so true with Paleface and his mob, If ever i need rebalancing, a gentle reminder on true gratitude, or just caught up in the business of day to life and simply need to be plopped right bqck in the present, the Brumbies allow to teach me the lesson each and everytime!

This photo of Paleface was taken whilst I was just sitting, enjoying every moment the Brumbies in the Snowy Mountains allow me to be a part of their day, they truly are very special horses.

As the snow melts on the Kiandra Plain and spring starts to have a feel of warmth about it, young newborns are popping up amongst the herds. I was blessed to spend a little time with this mare and her young foal this morning, she has taken the foal on a little ridge just off the plain where it may be a little rocky but a safe dry place for the foal to rest. Have a great weekend everyone! Photo Copyright to Carol Hancock

beautiful Paleface how much you are missed

Beautiful Paleface-gone but never forgotten

Hi all

As I sit here this evening cleaning my computers, deleting hundreds of images that are either not clear or duplicates etc I have come across these pics of Paleface.

Taken on the 12-3-16 I remember that morning very well indeed.

It was the first time Paleface came up to me and sniffed the air not 1/2 a metre away.

I sat there in awe of him looking up at him looking down at me.I will never forget it,he casually stepped away only to continue grazing about 2 metres from me.

My heart raced and full of adrenaline I looked over at Ian and there was Ash sniffing Ian’s hand.It was a day that we both will never forget.

I have in fact two large canvas prints in the house of photos taken on that particular day (see pics).

Kiandra was the location where Paleface and co would venture in early spring to feed on the fresh green grasses of the Kiandra area.

Paleface and co would venture over from the Selwyn area along the TableTop Mountain Trail ,also known as the AAWT to Kiandra this time of year, they knew where the fresh goodies were 😊.

Many of these images I haven’t shared before so here they are.

What a year !!

We have lost Paleface and his mobs, his neighbours and their mobs and so so many more and are about to lose even more being that NPWS are about to remove as many of our brumbies as possible.

Please snow, please snow like never before !!

We walked up to the lookout about Kiandra that day and took a pic of Kiandra and it’s surrounding huts, such a shame they are all gone now, burnt to rubble 😔

Thanks

Michelle

Beautiful Paleface 🐴❤️🇦🇺

Paleface and Mumma

Kiandra from above-all gone in the fire

In the light of the passing of young Amigo I have some great news! His mumma has now foaled a healthy colt! He has some wonky legs that Im pretty certain will straighten out over time but at the end of the day he is one healthy looking little boy and one can only assume that Paleface is the proud sire of this new boy! I am interested in writing short stories for my pleasure and my family's but although I have published four family books I will not go down that path again but still want what I write out there so I will see how this goes
