The Last Brumby

Horses are one of the most beautiful, strong, and majestic creatures known on the planet. They are highly powerful creatures that have been used by humans for various reasons such as equestrian, riding, racing, and other activities.

They’ve given so much to us and they continue to help us, day in day out. They’ve helped builders, farmers, businessmen, and many more.

Unfortunately, with technological advancement that is happening before our eyes, their use in daily life, especially in transportation, has greatly reduced.

Even though we may not use them the same way we used to, they are still very much beneficial to our planet and ecosystem.

I’d even say they are the most important contributors in keeping our ecosystem as well as our planet healthy, functioning, and clean.

The snow flakes fell like shards of glass

An eerie silence fell over the gully,

Time stood still for a moment

A sinking feeling in my tummy.

No sounds of hooves pacing

No gentle nibbling on the grass,

There was sparseness, an emptiness

A solitary figure was the last.

The last of his kind, his mob long gone

The loneliness etched in his eyes,

A tear ran down his cheek

It was his time to say goodbye.

He’d lived through War the year before

When men took to the skies,

Firing down from up above

No one answering to their cries.

He watched his family suffer

And slowly take last breaths,

Their faces twisted in agony

Before the finality of death.

They’d run the Mounts since settlement

A freedom all desire,

The Earth had provided all their needs

Simple needs they did require.

It wasn’t enough for humans

They saw us as a pest,

Disregarded our right to be alive

Even though we tried our best.

We tried to show you beauty

We tried to show you a way,

To share this planet of plenty

But your Government did betray.

You sent many of us to slaughter

Gunned us down without remorse,

You lacked the compassion that is needed

To truly understand the horse.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I’m going to join my kind,

Far above the clouds and stars

To leave this World unkind.

A gentle breeze rustled through his hair

His kind eradicated by a lie,

He closed his eyes one last time

And his soul soared towards the sky.

Robbie Lee penned this

The horses are blamed for all the damage,
By those who are paid to apparently ‘manage’,
The ones who never set foot in the park,
With closed eyes they stay in the dark !!
They refuse to listen to reason,
And then shoot through every season,
With hearts as black as coal,
They won’t even spare a foal !!
When the Brumbies are no more,
And it’s time to even the score,
There will come a day for us to vote,
And we know for Labour, WE DEFINITELY WONT!!
We will remener your name Atticus Flemming,
But most of all, the cruel Penny Sharpe,
With our pens ready for revenge,
We will not vote for blackest of heart !!!!!!
So enjoy your power while you can,
Coz the tide will eventually turn,
And the brumby spirit will live a longer term,
And you will just be a disgusting germ!!
The ones who wipe out an entire race,
You kill all the beauty and grace,
What was once a thriving and peaceful place,
Is soon to be a desolate, baron space.
The brumby heart is bigger than you think,
And their supporters are passionate and many,
So lets bring on the next election,
And say goodbye to Cruel Atticsus and Penny!!
